Exodus is one of the most influential bands in the thrash genre and with the announcement of the departure of vocalist, Rob Dukes, fans should feel relieved that his replacement is none other than former vocalist, Steve ‘Zetro’ Souza.
Fans will always have a favorite when a band goes through changes. While some may say Baloff was the most important vocalist for his contribution to Bonded By Blood, others will say Zetro, since he was with the band through their establishment as a vital piece of the thrash movement, but there is no denying that Rob Dukes was also a major contributor during his time in the band. Exodus have released some great albums with Dukes and it will not be easy to see him go.
Exodus have released this comment regarding the situation:
“As a band, we all had to make a very difficult choice to part ways with Rob Dukes. We have nothing but love and admiration for him and the deepest gratitude for the hard work he has put in and the great work on some killer records. But at this time, Tom, Lee, Jack and myself thought a change was necessary and the unanimous choice going forward was to welcome back Steve Souza to the fold!”
It is apparent that no matter who the band chooses as a frontman, we can expect great music. I loved every album released through their time with Dukes, but I’m looking forward to their next release with Zetro.
