Execution Day have been, well, quite busy recently. With a consistent stream of new singles released over the last couple years, the metalcore band aims to bring a fresh touch to the genre. Already raking in over 80,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, the band is about to get a lot more attention when they support The Anchor on tour later this year – peep the dates that dropped below.
Anyway, the band’s new single, “Epitaph”, just dropped. Needless to say, it’s a great introduction to the band as a whole if you’re unfamiliar. The instrumentation gallops similar to bands like Erra, but what differentiates Execution Day from a plethora of other bands is their ability to effortlessly shift tempos at the drop of a hat. It’s really quite impressive, and you can bet there’s a lot more in store for Execution Day the rest of 2023 as well.
Dylan Dively had this to say about the new single:
“Epitaph is a sort of final word to your loved ones before you pass on, something you’d want them to know even if you weren’t here to say it to them. Highlighted in the lines, “You’re worth your weight in gold” and “Find room in your heart to grow” is a reminder that, you have a place, you have a purpose on this earth and in this life. We as human beings are imperfect, we make mistakes and there is always room in ourselves to be better and treat others with the love we expect to be treated with in return. Everyone is loved and worthy even in the times they may be at their lowest and darkest times, when all hope seems lost.”
