It’s not everyday that you get to see talented newcomers work with a coveted figure in their genre. But Massachusetts-based multi-genre metal group Devitalized were able to tap one of the best in the business for their brand new single “Godslayer” and the results are as solid as you’d expect. After opening for the Worcester date of Chelsea Grin’s recent Suffer In Heaven // Suffer In Hell Tour, Devitalized secured this collaboration with their vocalist Tom Barber.
Vocalist John-Paul Ratta is stoked for this release, sharing that, “Not only do I think this is the best song we’ve created, but everyone that has been a part of this truly brought it to life; this isn’t just a feature, it’s a full-on collaboration. ‘Godslayer’ is Chelsea Grin, Darko US, and Devitalized if they had a baby. A mix of deathcore, slam, and hardcore, and in my humble opinion, this is the next big thing, not just the song but the sound. I want to thank Chelsea Grin, Tom Barber, and all the producers, engineers, and studio friends that helped create this track. I promise there’s more like this to come.”
With incendiary vocal efforts from both Barber and Ratta, and the members of Devitalized delivering a sound as crushing as ever, “Godslayer” is truly an assault to the senses. Given its feature and its execution, this single is required listening for deathcore fans this year. It’s also the next addition to the band’s upcoming debut record State of Aggression, which is set for release later this year and will include “X_X”, “Deep Cuts”, and “False Reality” as well.
