By now, you’ve likely seen Sum 41’s live cover of Linkin Park’s “Faint”, where the band was joined by Mike Shinoda as well. It all happened at Reading & Leeds 2018, and needless to say, the fan support was rapturous. If you haven’t for some reason, it’s a pretty solid rendition – but according to Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley, it wasn’t as much about the execution of it as much as it was the music and honoring a legend.
In fact, the performance almost didn’t happen at all. In a recent, lengthy IG post, Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley explains in great detail about how the performance was “nerve-wracking” for him and the band:
Judging by the reactions from the Linkin Park family and the band themselves, it was a performance that the late Chester Bennington would certainly be proud of.
