While it’s been confirmed for a couple months that the band’s new album is finished with the recording process, it’s still been a long 4 year wait for Deftones fans to hear new music. Of course, given the band’s overall quality in their discography, the wait for new music is mitigated, because patience is often rewarded (for the most part). It seems, however, fans won’t have to wait too much longer for new music.
Both Frank Delgado and drummer Abe Cunningham were on a recent Deftones livestream on Instagram, where Cunningham played a clip of new Deftones music. Notably, it sounds pretty heavy, which will be a welcome sight (well, auditory experience) for fans who may have thought 2016’s Gore was a bit too soft. Thanks to DeftonesLive on Youtube, the song clip’s quality sounds much better than it might otherwise, and you’ll want to listen to that below. Here’s hoping for a neat collaboration on the upcoming record, much like “Phantom Bride” (which featured Alice In Chains’ Jerry Cantrell) proved its effectiveness. Either way, it’s time to get amped.
