On a rainy Friday night in Chicago, Dayseeker sold out Bottom Lounge with their emotion-packed Sleeptalk tour.
Opening bands for the tour consisted of Caskets, Thornhill, and Holding Absence. With Caskets and Holding Absence hailing from the UK, and Thornhill from Australia, it was all three bands’ first time in the US, and the crowd not only showed up for Dayseeker but for them as well. All three bands displayed such a passion for their craft and had a priceless look on their face that the crowd was singing their songs back to them. It’s going to be insane to see all three of these bands grow in stature over the next few years.
Dayseeker opened up their set with “The Color Black” followed by “Gates of Ivory”, and then slowed things down a notch bringing out Lucas Woodland from Holding Absence to join for an emotional rendition of “Starving To Be Empty”. Mixed into the Sleeptalk set list included an older song, “Vultures” and newest single “Neon Grave” that came with an emotional introduction describing how the song was written about Rory Rodriguez’s father who passed last year. Just before closing out the night was an arresting rendition of “Drunk” where the crowd was singing louder than Rory as their phone flashlights lit the stage. The Sleeptalk tour is every bit of emotional as you would expect paired with a great live performance.
