Bring Me The Horizon’s “Can You Feel My Heart” enters the Spotify Global Viral 50 – through the power of TikTok

Bring Me The Horizon’s “Can You Feel My Heart” has been one of the band’s most enduring songs since the release of 2013’s landmark Sempiternal record. Having recently reached 150 million streams on Spotify alone, the song is one of the band’s biggest on streaming services overall – and much like other bands, it’s seen recent streaming growth again. The song is currently in Spotify’s Global Viral Top 50 – but how did it get there?

The answer? TikTok, which has enough viral power to launch brands and bands into the stratosphere just through a video that goes haywire. As our friend Yasmine notes, people aren’t just making videos using the original CYFMH audio, they’re also using their own audio that’s causing the song to blow up. Think of it like the concept of compound interest, where something can easily spread like wildfire once interest in a viral video exists.

From The Weeknd to even 2000s hits from Simple Plan, it should be noted that rap, EDM, and anything that’s bass-heavy is likely to take off faster. That doesn’t mean that music from other genres won’t take off, of course – but it’s important to keep in mind that much of TikTok’s userbase is younger. Specifically, Generation Z, but also millennials as well.

In Bring Me The Horizon’s case, the song is buzzing yet again because of the power of TikTok. “Can You Feel My Heart” is a pretty accessible song on its own, with a throbbing synth line at the beginning, and it seems a new demographic is discovering Bring Me The Horizon – possibly for the first time, too. Ignore and dismiss platforms like TikTok at your own risk, because the right viral video could launch just about any band and brand into the stratosphere. Considering the BMTH hit song is just 50 million Spotify streams behind “Throne” – their most popular song – it wouldn’t be a surprise to see CYFMH come close to overtaking it in the coming days. It’s all through the viral power of TikTok.
