Breaking Benjamin’s “Blow Me Away” has been certified Platinum by the RIAA

Upon its 2004 release for the XBox, Halo 2 was one of the biggest FPS games ever released to that point. Fully delivering on the hype that the 2001 launch title brought to the genre, Halo 2’s soundtrack was an integral part of the full cinematic experience. While it consisted of mostly ambient and instrumental tracks, Incubus and the nascent Breaking Benjamin made appearances on the album. BB’s “Blow Me Away”, in particular, appeared on a plethora of fanmade AMVs over the years – and it’s considered one of the defining Breaking Benjamin tracks in their discography. In other words, there’s nothing more 2000s than Halo 2 and Breaking Benjamin.

Now, the song has received another huge accolade, reaching a sales mark that few rock bands ever reach.

“Blow Me Away” has been certified Platinum by the RIAA, reaching a million sales. This comes from a combination of streams and single sales/downloads over the years, and it’s fairly rare for a soundtrack single to garner this many sales – especially today. Congrats to Breaking Benjamin for making all of our youth much more bearable – and awesome.
