Breaking Benjamin haven’t released any new material since 2020’s Aurora (which was an album of re-workings and one new song), and no proper full-lengths of new material since 2018’s chart-crashing Ember. That doesn’t mean they haven’t been busy, however. The COVID-19 pandemic interrupted their plans just like almost every other musician on planet Earth, and while they’ve been embarking on various headlining and support tours, fans are obviously wondering when new music is coming.
Good news, then! Breaking Benjamin’s Jasen Rauch has offered an update on when we might hear new Breaking Benjamin material – helpfully transcribed by Blabbermouth for your viewing pleasure:
“We are working on music. We’ve been writing for quite a while. And regardless of whether we were able to record anything or not, we’ve been writing for a little over a year, I would say. We kind of keep the bar pretty high for ourselves as far as the standard moving forward. We’ve been experimenting with some things, throwing some things out, started over a couple of times, and are getting to a place where we’re pretty happy. “So, yeah, we’ve been in the studio,” he continued. “We did some in Nashville. We’ve done a lot of stuff remotely. Ben [BREAKING BENJAMIN frontman Benjamin Burnley] and I have dozens and dozens of voice memos going back, ‘Hey, try this. Try this.’ And we’ll record something and send it back and forth. But, yeah, we’re looking forward to it. And hopefully we’ll have something out soon for everybody to hear.”
Of particular note, Breaking Benjamin are touring most of the summer, in particular supporting Disturbed. And they still churn out chart-topping rock hits, despite having existed for just over 20 years now. So it’ll be interesting to see if they branch off in any new musical directions.
