Billy Bob Thornton may be a Hollywood legend, but for the last 15 years he has also been fronting The Boxmasters, who are now 12 records deep in their discography. With a sound reminiscent of old rockabilly, the band brought their tour to the Des Plaines Theatre in Des Plaines, IL for an intimate evening fans won’t soon forget.
Hitting the stage in a calm manner, the band instantly blasted into their set playing song to song with almost no in between banter at times. While Thornton may be energetic in film, he is quite the opposite on stage, acting almost minimalistic as can be. Mainly staying between two spots, he still commands the stage with almost no effort. His band shouldn’t be overlooked though, as they blast through song after song happy and with ease.
While this was an evening of calm music for the crowd in attendance, it wasn’t all music. Thronton did break into a Q&A and spoken word session with the crowd letting them get involved as well. He even made sure to personally thank each person in the first several rows of the crowd, making sure this was an evening they won’t forget.
