Ambient post-hardcore band Being As An Ocean are giving fans a deeper look at upcoming album, ‘Proxy: An A.N.I.M.O. Story,’ with the release of second track “Find Our Way”. The band’s musical evolution continues on the upcoming 5th album, with “Find Our Way” occupying a strangely effective and catchy space between newer Bring Me The Horizon (think That’s The Spirit and Amo), big, catchy post-hardcore, and even the mainstream bent of the more electronic side of Linkin Park. In other words, Being As An Ocean are marking their new album as one that is made for much bigger stages.
“Find Our Way” follows the recent release of lead single “Play Pretend” and its cinematic sci-fi companion video/short film, which was directed by BRUME, and one that received critical acclaim from the music press.
Both “Find Our Way” and “Play Pretend” are available as instant downloads by clicking HERE to pre-order ‘Proxy: An A.N.I.M.O. Story’ ahead of its September 13th release date.
Recorded with Grammy-nominated producer and collaborator Zakk Cervini (Blink-182, Halsey), ‘Proxy: An A.N.I.M.O. Story’ is a bold new chapter for the Southern California-based Being As An Ocean (vocalist Joel Quartuccio, lead guitarist Tyler Ross, rhythm guitarist Michael McGough and bassist Ralph Sica).
Quartuccio recently talked about raising the bar: “we always keep pushing ourselves,” he says. “It’s important to each and every single one of us to be better and keep incorporating new things that we love that we want to see in all of the art we put out. The very first music video we ever shot was done by Tyler in my living room in my small apartment in San Diego. We want to keep growing in every aspect.”
After arriving on the scene with their debut album Dear G-d, Being As An Ocean’s unique blend of post-hardcore punch and ambient tones has helped them rack up a staggering 85 million streams globally while playing to a rapidly growing community of diehards around the world.
‘Proxy: An A.N.I.M.O. Story’ stands as a monumental, year-long labor of love, sculpted and breathed into reality. Its inaugural single’s music video lifts the veil on a vast creative world from which the band has pulled its inspiration and artistic guidance, exposing a narrative, not unlike our own; an existence experienced through the human lens of empathy, suffering, loss, longing, regret, reconciliation, sacrifice, joy, and love.
Fans can catch BAAO performing “Play Pretend” and a heady mix of additional new tracks and fan favorites on their upcoming North American headlining tour, which kicks off September 19th in Los Angeles.
