Not that it necessary took a lot of prediction to do so, but just as we suggested at the beginning of 2023, Bad Omens have indeed scored their first RIAA Gold certification with their hit song “Just Pretend”.
The song, which exploded in popularity shortly after their third album The Death Of Peace Of Mind was released last year, played a major part in the band’s meteoric explosion over the last 18 months. It’s closing in on 100 million Spotify streams just on that platform, and Bad Omens quickly saw their fanbase explode in part due to the popularity of the track. However, those who’ve been a fan since the beginning know that the seeds for this success were sown almost a decade ago – and that has to be gratifying for anyone who’s been with Bad Omens since the beginning. Plus, the song’s subject matter is universal – most everyone has been on the edge of ending a complicated romantic relationship, so it’s not a surprise how it got so popular.
