Released just over a year ago, Bad Omens struck gold with their third full-length album. At over 51 million streams on Spotify at the time of this writing, the band’s “Just Pretend” song (not released as a single before the album’s release, mind you) took off a few months after the record release. Unlike recent examples like The Plot In You’s “Feel Nothing”, the song wasn’t focused on as a single, which makes the organic takeoff even more impressive.
Considering there’s a good chance the song goes Gold by the end of 2023, it shouldn’t be surprising that the song has found crossover success on rock radio as well. In fact, the song is now the band’s first #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, taking the crown from Five Finger Death Punch (and Metallica previously). Very impressive stuff, to be honest. One wonders just how high the song will go in the coming months, because it hasn’t slowed down yet.
.@badomenscult‘s “Just Pretend” hits No. 1 on this week’s #MainstreamRockAirplay chart. It’s their first No. 1 at the format.
