AFI will release a new album in 2021, new music promised “very soon”

It’s been four years since AFI released their Blood album, and 2018 was the last time the band released anything of any sort (their excellent The Missing Man EP). However, it appears they’re ready to kick off 2021 with a bang with new music on the way. Fitting, considering the band usually release a new full-length every 3-4 years or so.

In a statement on their socials, the band intimated their plans to release new music this year, saying “With the end of a year that has been, at best, challenging for all, we have news that we hope may bring you some joy. Very soon, new songs shall be yours. Before the year’s end, our 11th album will follow. We could not be more happy with our latest work and hope you will feel the same. Thank you for joining us upon this next journey. We are thrilled to take it and honored to have you at our side.”

The band is also celebrating the 15-year anniversary of their Decemberunderground album in June, so one wonders if the band might do a special livestream or other celebration for that record. Armed with the massive “Miss Murder” single, it was really the catalyst in getting the band in front of a mainstream audience.
