AEW Dynamite – Episode 152 (08.31.2022) (Wrestling Review)

AEW

Dynamite

Hoffman Estates, IL

Aug. 31st, 2022

Singles Match
Bryan Danielson vs. Jake Hager

Hager looked good here and like a credible threat against Danielson which is good and bad. Hager doesn’t wrestle much so he isn’t a threat to the roster but his submission / MMA style worked well here. A lot of counters and neither guy could hold a submission for too long.

Tag Team Match
Hikaru Shida & Toni Storm vs. Dr. Britt Baker DMD & Jamie Hayter (w/Rebel)

A pretty solid match. Storm is likely taking the belt so makes sense her team won, weird though to see Britt take the pin.

2.5 / 5

Six Man Tag Team Match
Ren Jones, Silas Young & Vic Capri vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) & Wardlow

A short squash. Vic Capri and Silas Young are both more known midwest indy guys. Silas didn’t even tag in.

Four Way Match
Rush (w/Jose The Assistant) vs. Rey Fenix (w/Alex Abrahantes) vs. Wheeler Yuta vs. Dante Martin

A fun spot fest that just never fully hit for me. Mainly just a prelude for the ladder match at All Out. Yuta winning with a quick roll up almost was a difference finish. As always Fenix shines most in matches like this.

AEW World Trios Title Tournament Semi Final Match
The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) (w/Brandon Cutler & MT Nakazawa) vs. The United Empire (Kyle Fletcher, Mark Davis & Will Ospreay)

A nonstop action spot fest as expected. Rules weren’t followed which you don’t expect in an AEW tag match like this but it was great. Even looking past a lot of no selling here all 6 guys should be commended for this. You know Omega was winning and Will wasn’t taking the pin. This was just a great match though with the old guard from NJPW against the new one.
