AEW “All Out” (2022) (Wrestling Review)

AEW

All Out

Hoffman Estates, IL

Sept. 4th, 2022

AAA World Mixed Tag Team Title Match
The Jericho Appreciation Society (Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo) (c) vs. Ortiz & Ruby Soho

Tay in street clothes winning this is odd. Another match that mimics their last 2 matches this week. Hope Ruby and Ortiz stay a team but that this feud dies. Generic action filled match.

FTW Title Match
Hook (c) vs. Angelo Parker (w/Matt Menard)

A generic Hook match. Not a total squash but Hook dominated most of it. Action Bronson was cool though.

1.5 / 5

AEW All-Atlantic Title Match
PAC (c) vs. Kip Sabian

I mean Pac is always good but this match was sort of a bore. Sabin coming back after his long box gimmick is over with no one. He isn’t much better in the ring at all and this match just dragged on for 10 minutes.

1.5 / 5

Singles Match
Eddie Kingston vs. Tomohiro Ishii

A very NOAH type match. A lot of tough slaps and hard hitting moves. A good match but one that might not get over with casual fans since its a lower hitting match. The slapping was a bit much but once it going going it was good.

3 / 5

Casino Ladder Match
Claudio Castagnoli vs. Andrade El Idolo (w/Jose The Assistant) vs. Rush (w/Jose The Assistant) vs. Penta El Zero Miedo (w/Alex Abrahantes) vs. Rey Fenix (w/Alex Abrahantes) vs. Wheeler Yuta vs. Dante Martin vs. ??? (w/Stokely Hathaway)

Your typical ladder spot fest. Everyone got their moves in and then the Joker came and won it all. Claudio moving the ladder with Andrade on it was the stand out moment.

2.75 / 5

AEW World Trios Title Tournament Final Match (vakant)
Adam Page & The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver) vs. The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) (w/Brandon Cutler & MT Nakazawa)

Elite winning made sense and continues the drama there. This was a fantastic match though. Tons of close calls by everyone. Tons of huge spots and nonstop action. Crowd popped huge for a lot of it especially when Page and Omega came face to face. Dark Order guys looked great here holding their own against everyone.

4.25 / 5

AEW TBS Title Match
Jade Cargill (w/Kiera Hogan & Leila Grey) (c) vs. Athena

So tired of Cargill as champ. Athena lost in under 5 minutes in a bad match. Athena deserves better.

1.25 / 5

Six Man Tag Team Match
Jay Lethal & The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) (w/Satnam Singh & Sonjay Dutt) vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) & Wardlow

Wasn’t a big fan of this one. LOVE FTR and Wardlow is likable if not misused. This match just was filler and never felt important. Dragged on as well for a lot of it.

1.5 / 5

Singles Match
Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Ricky Starks

A short match that either guy could have won. Hobbs hopefully breaks out from here but this was a good but short showcase for both guys.

2 / 5

AEW World Tag Team Title Match
Swerve In Our Glory (Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland) (c) vs. The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) (w/Billy Gunn)

God The Acclaimed were insane over in this match. Knew they wouldn’t win but they should have with how hot the crowd was for them. A really fun tag match with a lot of really believable close calls. Acclaimed look good here against two vets and showed their skills well.

3.75 / 5

AEW Interim World Women’s Title Four Way Match (vakant)
Hikaru Shida vs. Toni Storm vs. Dr. Britt Baker DMD (w/Rebel) vs. Jamie Hayter

A decent enough womens 4 way that was more for future story than anything. This builds to Britt and Hayter going toe to toe here. Toni was the clear choice to take the belt too. Nothing bad here and had a good pace to it.

3 / 5

Singles Match
Christian Cage (w/Luchasaurus) vs. Jack Perry

Pre match attack led to a squash meaning this feud will sadly continue.

.5 / 5

Singles Match
Bryan Danielson vs. Chris Jericho

A slow hard hitting type technical match that we don’t often see from Jericho. It was actually good and had a lot of close moments and good back and forth. Ending it with a low blow was a good heel move by Jericho and didn’t make Danielson look bad losing. Also though Danielson losing is odd because he doesn’t need a loss while Jericho could have taken it and been fine.

4 / 5

Six Man Tag Team Match
Darby Allin, Miro & Sting vs. The House Of Black (Brody King, Buddy Matthews & Malakai Black) (w/Julia Hart)

A somewhat odd and tamer match then expected. Not a massive spot fest or anything. Plus Black (or everyone in House Of Black minus Brody) and Miro still don’t have anything going for them really in AEW. Darby getting the win and Sting getting his big spot was really all that was here.

2.5 / 5

AEW World Title Match
Jon Moxley (c) vs. CM Punk

This was a brawl and a good one. Punk bled and put up a fight and also used some of Moxs moves and tactics. Mox defended it well too. The issue is this just doesn’t matter much. Post match having MJF returning to go against Punk means that MJF is gonna take the belt, which is fantastic. Punk didn’t need the big hometown moment again. Still a great match, just felt like for all they did to set this up it wasn’t needed.
