Her distinct pop and rock music addresses many complex subjects such as body image and mental health, distinguishing her as more than just another rock sound. Although she is not as well-known as others on this list, she has plans for 2022.
Loose Articles – Loose Articles, from Manchester, blend stripped-back angular post-punk with their own unique wry views on modern life. Kicks Like A Girl and Buses are outstanding examples of their sound and direction. With new albums and a June support gig with Foo Fighters, 2022 appears to be their year!
Our Lady Peace – Our Lady Peace isn’t afraid to try new things. The band is diving into the NFT market with free collectibles, an auction for unlimited concert tickets, a test pressing of their Spiritual Machines 2 album, and a special remix of their track ‘Stop Making Stupid People Famous’ in collaboration with S!NG Market. We adore how daring OLP is with their art, and we can’t wait to see what they’ll try next.
Altin Gün – Altin Gün has always put a new spin on traditional Turkish music, and the rest of the world is now taking note. Unfortunately, a global pandemic struck just as they had secured a spot at Coachella 2020 and a Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album. However, even an international blockade couldn’t stop their well-deserved momentum. In 2021, the band released two albums, adding to their already genre-bending sound. Both Yol and Alem find the band playing with synths and drum machines, an unintended consequence of file-sharing due to a lack of in-person studio collaboration. It’s a pleasant addition, giving the whirling psychedelia an electronic twist.
Machine Gun Kelly – Machine Gun Kelly has been the most divisive musician in heavy music since transitioning from rap to pop-punk. Many metal fans are fully aware of his every action, whether they sought it out on their own or it has simply dominated their social media feeds. But everyone, metal fans and rock and metal musicians, must simply accept it. It may not be your grandfather’s rock ‘n’ roll. Still, the music of a younger age should always elicit a strong reaction from previous generations. You’re flaunting how uncool you are if you grew up in a different era by moaning about MGK.
Inhaler – As teenagers at St. Andrew’s College, these Dubliners established a band and progressively matured together, both personally and musically. Their fusion of 80s dance rock and 90s indie-pop elements with a crisp, modern atmosphere exploded with propulsive beats and earworm hooks by the time they published their 2021 debut album, It Won’t Always Be Like This. Suppose the voice gliding atop the whole thing seems eerily familiar. In that case, it could be because Inhaler frontman Elijah Hewson’s father is the singer for another Dublin band you’re acquainted with.
