For anyone who grew up as online multiplayer games were becoming more and more easily accessible, this news will sadden just about everyone. The servers of all Xbox 360 Halo games, including Halo 3, Halo: Reach, and more, have been shut down as of today, marking the true end of an era. The silver lining? You can, of course, play them in Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Its predecessor Halo 2 was one of the biggest blockbusters of modern gaming, but Halo 3 saw more gamers entering the online multiplayer fray than ever before. Whether it was due to video games becoming even more mainstream or developing technology making online gaming more accessible to everyone, Halo 3 would have millions of players on online matchmaking at once.
