Longtime Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins sadly passed away back in March, but nobody who ever witnessed him play the drums will ever forget his energy and passion for the craft. Even in a band as iconic as Foo Fighters, Hawkins always stood out with his genuine excitement, both on stage and in the studio.
Rockin’1000, a collective that brings together drummers, guitarists, and bassist to perform cover sets, paid tribute to Hawkins in a video that was uploaded yesterday. The song performed? Foo Fighters’ iconic “My Hero”, which is undoubtedly an emotional song for many, but even more so with Hawkins’ passing. Notably, as 97X noted, Rockin’1000 was originally formed with a cover of the band’s song “Learn To Fly”, “in an effort to convince Dave Grohl and company to perform a concert in founder Fabio Zaffagnini’s hometown of Cesena, Italy”.
The tribute itself is also particularly cool, as gathering 1,000 musicians to perform anything together certainly takes both talent and experience. Give it a watch below and let us know what you think.
