Yesterday Was Everything: Misery Signals – A Documentary

With 4 full-lengths and an EP under their belt, highly influential metalcore band Misery Signals are surely a massive important cornerstone. Combining bright melodies and crushing breakdowns long before most bands were doing the same, their 2004 album Of Malice and the Magnum Heart remains a fan favorite – to the point where the band’s original lineup toured in 2004, playing the entire album in full.

It’s hard to quantify just how much this band and album in partciular changed the game. The album, which was produced by Devin Townsend, still hits just as hard now as it did in 2004 – it helps when you have career defining tracks like “Five Years” and the soul-crushing “The Year Summer Ended In June”. Misery Signals is now releasing a documentary, entitled Yesterday Was Everything, chronicling the band’s OMATMH tour in 2014. It’s out June 30th, and you can view the 4 minute trailer below. There’s also the band’s 2015 Rain City Sessions below, which captures the passionate performance Misery Signals still gives over a decade later.

“This time, it was our summer.”
