When I found out that veteran experimental metal band Candiria was heading out on the Vans Warped Tour, I pretty much flipped out. This is a band that, over their 2+ decades of existence, are very hard to quantify. Are they a metal band? Maybe, but there’s plenty of hip-hop. Are they a jazz fusion band? No, too metallic. The best adjective for Candiria is influential, because it’s true. Candiria remains a massive influence on many of today’s top bands, including Emmure, Tesseract, and dozens more. Very thankful to have discovered them in a Guitar World magazine sometime in 2003.
