Turnstile’s “Time & Space” proves hardcore should always be fun

Time & Space, the 2nd full-length from hardcore band Turnstile, proves that the genre is at its best when the drums are loud and the sing-a-longs are catchy AF. This is the quintessential hardcore album that is pure fun, and doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Time & Space is made for the live setting. The band’s groove-filled choruses and overall sound lends itself well to such, but the most interesting thing about Turnstile is how well they distill their obvious influences (311, Rage Against the Machine, and especially Snapcase) into a mixture of diverse, yet familiar sounds. The album breezes by rather quickly, but there are highlights. Interestingly, it’s the tracks with “time and space” that are the best ones here, namely “Generator” and “Can’t Get Away”.

Turnstile are producing some of the most fun and interesting hardcore in recent memory. One listen to Time & Space, and you’ll believe it too.
