Earlier this month, we learned that Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan had finished all of his vocals for the band’s long-awaited follow-up to 2006’s 10,000 Days. While fans of the progressive metal band have been teased many times before, it seems there is now a concrete release date for the new record.
Carey, who was at this weekend’s NAMM convention, responded to a fan’s question about the upcoming record, saying “Yeah, it should be out mid-April. That’s the plan, anyway.”
Thanks to Metal Injection, we also know that Gabriel Shaffer, an associate of the band, has heard the entire new album – meaning that we’re probably getting closer and closer to the fabled album’s release.
The upcoming record will be the band’s first since 2006, as Tool gears up for a lengthy spring and summer touring schedule. Notably are stops at Welcome To Rockville, Epicenter, and a lengthy European tour.
Editor’s Note: As of this afternoon (1/28), there’s now a teaser of new music on their official website.
