Tool, Bring Me The Horizon, I Prevail, Killswitch Engage + more nominated for 2020 Grammy Awards

here

Whether or not you care about the Grammy Awards, it’s always interesting to see what the music industry gets “right”, especially when it comes to the changing and emerging trends of rock + metal. Or wrong, in other cases – like when Jethro Tull famously beat out Metallica, despite them being one of the world’s biggest metal bands in history – at least in the making. Hindsight is, of course, 20/20.

The Grammy Awards will take place on Jan. 26 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The broadcast will air live on CBS at 5 p.m. PT/ 8 p.m. ET. The folks at Variety have made it easier on you by compiling an entire list of nominees for your viewing pleasure, which you can read here.

Interestingly, I Prevail went from a brand new band to a Grammy-nominated one in just 5 years. Whether you think their success is solely due to their cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” or not, they certainly wouldn’t have been able to maintain their success if the likes of “Scars” and “Bow Down” weren’t all over rock radio. Tool’s first album in 13 years, Fear Inocolum, got a couple nominations as well. Perhaps Knocked Loose or Vein might get nominated for a Grammy award someday, too?
