While we know the band is in the studio recording new music with producer Taylor Larson, as well as currently on tour with Periphery and Covet, Veil Of Maya have given us a snippet of what the band’s upcoming record might sound like in the form of “Members Only”. Longtime fans of the band might notice a few subtle changes in the band’s sound here. Notably, there’s a synth line that runs through the song and really gives Veil Of Maya a neat electronic flourish.
Having put out an album just over every 2 years (on average) since 2006, Veil Of Maya’s upcoming 7th full-length is likely coming very soon. The acclaimed metal band, who have seen their support slots snowball to the point of touring with the likes of Underoath and Dance Gavin Dance, are also hitting up the annual Rage Fest tour, as well as apparently are in the studio creating…something. Could it be new music?
Few albums are as influential to modern progressive metal and progressive-leaning death metal as Cynic’s Focus was. An album ahead of its time upon its 1993 release, it was an impressive performance overall from everyone involved – especially the underrated bassist Sean Malone. Seriously, this record is a bass lovers dream, as his work is featured prominently in every track. Surely he was a big influence on Mudvayne bass player Ryan DeMartinie.
Currently on tour supporting The Devil Wears Prada, progressive metal band Veil Of Maya have released their 6th album, False Idol, which can be streamed below. It’s VOM’s longest album yet, clocking in at 45 minutes and 13 songs, and boasts some of their most technically impressive material yet – especially exciting tracks like “Livestream”.
