Veil Of Maya display furious fretwork on long-awaited new song, “Outsider”

After teasing it over the weekend, Sumerian Records’ own metal veterans Veil Of Maya have unleashed a new song, “Outsider”. The song, which is notably longer than most of their songs at just over four minutes, displays furious fretwork and an awfully impressive performance by drummer Sam Applebaum, who remains rather underrated. That doesn’t even begin to cover the infectious vocal performance of Lukas Magyar, who’s really coming into his own behind the mic.

While it’s unknown if the new song is off a new record, it seems that it likely is, considering the band was in the studio with producer Taylor Larson (Periphery, Vespera) just last year. Regardless, “Outsider” is a compelling listen, whether it’s a standout standalone single, or something off the band’s upcoming album. Considering the band continues to grow in stature, we can only hope for the latter.

Dance Gavin Dance announces 2020 USA headlining tour, Animals As Leaders + more to support

With the announcement of yet another new album coming in 2020, Dance Gavin Dance have announced a massive USA headlining tour for next year. Starting in LA and finishing in Sacremento for their curated Swanfest, the band will travel the USA with an unannounced opener as well as Animals As Leaders, Veil Of Maya, and Royal Coda.

Veil Of Maya releases surprise new song, “Members Only”

While we know the band is in the studio recording new music with producer Taylor Larson, as well as currently on tour with Periphery and Covet, Veil Of Maya have given us a snippet of what the band’s upcoming record might sound like in the form of “Members Only”. Longtime fans of the band might notice a few subtle changes in the band’s sound here. Notably, there’s a synth line that runs through the song and really gives Veil Of Maya a neat electronic flourish.

Veil Of Maya are in the studio with producer Taylor Larson

Having put out an album just over every 2 years (on average) since 2006, Veil Of Maya’s upcoming 7th full-length is likely coming very soon. The acclaimed metal band, who have seen their support slots snowball to the point of touring with the likes of Underoath and Dance Gavin Dance, are also hitting up the annual Rage Fest tour, as well as apparently are in the studio creating…something. Could it be new music?
