If you didn’t get the memo when we covered the band’s debut single back in September, UK post-hardcore band Static Dress are one that needs to be on your radar. Packing huge hooks and THICC, nostalgic early-2000’s vibes, Static Dress are far more than a band merely wanting to ride the coattails of nostalgic days gone by – they’re the next big thing in the genre.
First impressions are everything, and if there’s a sort of test for UK post-hardcore band Static Dress to “pass”, they’ve done so with flying colors on the back of their debut single, “clean.”, which is barely a month old. If you didn’t already know, we’re pretty hooked on the band, and if you’re a fan of bands like Dead Poetic and/or Emery, you’ll find much to enjoy here. Of course, Static Dress is far more than a base RIYL-esque description, so we’ll give the bright young band the floor to answer a few questions about what’s now, and what’s next as well.
A band’s debut single, especially in 2019, is a tricky proposition in any genre of music. You’re essentially competing against leagues of other musicians for time and attention, among other things. Luckily, UK newcomers Static Dress have come out of the gate swinging on their debut single, “Clean.”, one that’s already being hyped up quite a bit via social media – and just plain being interesting music. In our expert opinion, their nostalgic sound belies a fresh and modern touch that you need to hear – and fast.
