Slayer announces “The Final Campaign” farewell tour dates – Primus, Ministry, Phil Anselmo to support

After wrapping up an expansive summer festival tour across Europe, Ministry’s next move is joining Slayer on the thrash metal band’s final dates of its Farewell World Tour. Kicking off November 2 in Asheville, NC and wrapping up in Los Angeles on November 30, “The Final Campaign” is the seventh and last leg of Slayer’s goodbye tour. Ministry will appear on all 18 dates alongside additional support acts Primus and Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals.

Ministry’s highly influential “The Land Of Rape And Honey” turns 30

Ministry’s 1988 album The Land Of Rape And Honey still maintains a sense of mystique in the development of modern industrial rock & metal as a whole. Simply put, without this record, bands like Nine Inch Nails and Filter likely wouldn’t have attained the popularity they reached soon after this album’s release.

The landmark birthday comes just two days before another Ministry milestone-the 30th anniversary of the band’s pioneering album, “The Land Of Rape And Honey,” which was originally released on October 11, 1988 and produced the hit single “Stigmata.” It went on to be certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in 1996 and remains one of the band’s best selling albums.

Ministry played a packed hometown Chicago show to a room full of fans that just couldn’t get enough. With a band firing on all cylinders and frontman Al Jourgensen leading the way with their unique brand of industrial metal the crowd was sure in for a huge night. Featuring special guest Burton C Bell of Fear Factory fame doing a few songs on vocals each night gave a unique twist. No one could expect however what would come at the end of the night as Al stated he had a guest to do one song that hasn’t been with Ministry since the 80’s and it was none other than Chris Connelly. This one off was something special to see and a great way to top off a killer set from the band.
