Legendary metalcore band Killswitch Engage, who recently wrapped up a packed co-headlining tour with Parkway Drive, have finally “Unleashed” a new song. “Unleashed” is the first track off the band’s highly anticipated new record, Atonement, which is due out this August. The new album hits stores via Metal Blade Records on August 16th. The new record will feature former Killswitch Engage vocalist Howard Jones on the song “The Signal Fire”, alongside Jesse Leach, along with “The Crownless King”, which features Testament’s Chuck Billy. The band is also touring with Clutch and Cro-Mags, the dates of which you can find below.
Fit For A King and Phinehas are two bands that are unafraid to wave the flag of American Metalcore. I mean seriously, Fit For A King emblazon the genre on some of their merch! Both bands have put out forward-thinking and interesting releases, especially Dark Skies and thegodmachine.
Anyhow, FFAK vocalist Ryan Kirby and Phinehas guitarist Daniel Gailey now have a channel dedicated to their covers of their favorite rock and metal songs, and they’re getting community involvement, too. Their new cover of Killswitch Engage’s classic, “My Curse”, is a pretty spot-on take of the original, and stylishly executed as well. The duo will be offering up 2 covers every month – and 3 for Patreon supporters – making this a worthwhile use of your funds, should you choose to financially support.
Ryan and Daniel have a Patreon account, where you can also vote in their monthly cover poll, get an mp3 of said cover for yourself, and much more.
Killswitch Engage and Parkway Drive have announced a massive co-headline tour, dubbed “Collapse the World”, in Spring 2019. The tour is kicking off on April 18 in San Francisco and running through May 16 in Milwaukee. After The Burial will appear in the lineup as a support act. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, December 21 at 10am local time.
It’s pretty well known that Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse Leach has his roots in the hardcore and punk scenes, attending his first hardcore show at 14, and never really looking back. A cursory look at his social medias shows that the roots run very, very deep – and even at 40 years of age, his love for those scenes have clearly never faded.
While Killswitch Engage puts the finishing touches on a brand new record (which will be their first since 2016), Jesse recently took in an Agnostic Front show at the famous Blackthorn 51 in Elmhurst, New York – and he got front and center in the action. For him, this is therapy – and we think any fan of metal, hardcore, punk rock, or outsider subculture can probably agree, as well.
