Happy Album Release Friday! Every (well, almost) Friday, we bring you a handful of albums we’re digging that just so happened to drop the same day. The first day of February brings us a few strong early AOTY candidates in UK hardcore band Ithaca’s debut album, progressive dream-thrash (yes, it’s a genre) Astronoid’s stunning sophomore album, Issues frontman Tyler Carter’s solo full-length debut, and a few more. In short, it’s a pretty exciting release day in what’s often a barren month (and season) for new record releases.

One listen to just about every band on Holy Roar Records will make you realize that the fast-rising indie label has a keen eye for talent. Home to Rolo Tomassi, Conjurer, and many more, metallic hardcore newcomers Ithaca are one to watch as well. They’ve released their new single, “Impulse Crush”, from their forthcoming debut full-length record. The Language of Injury, which drops February 1st via Holy Roar Records, is a masterclass in violent metalcore that also draws from post-hardcore and other subgenres, to create something that might remind the listener of everyone from early Poison The Well, to labelmates Svalbard.
The young band is poised to make some huge waves on both sides of the pond, so you don’t want to miss out on one of the underground’s most exciting bands. Stream the new song below.
