Hellfest 2018 : Our picks

Once again, Hellfest is set to open its gates in a few weeks, and with it comes, once again, one of the best line-ups that you will see this summer. Think of Iron Maiden, Deftones, Judas Priest, Nightwish, A Perfect Circle, Rise Against, Napalm Death on the same bill… and you’ll understand how the festival manages to sell every ticket in a couple of days !

So let’s go through a few bands we would advise you to go and see at this year’s edition !

Black Bomb A

French Hardcore veterans (23 years and 6 records on) are at it again this year, right on time to wake you up, if you were planning on having a lazy Sunday! This constantly touring band has proven here in France that they know how to build intense shows, even for half an hour, even right after noon. One year after having had Jamey Jasta as their opener during their summer tour, BBA will blast their very best songs, and we know that there is going to be a massive crowd in front of the Main Stage, event at such an early hour.

After a first day that has kept all its promises, Hellfest opens up its gates for the 60.000 of us on this Saturday morning. Hellfest 2017 Review – Day 1 of 3 : Too many bands, too little time!

Welcome to hell ! This year again, almost 60,000 metalheads reached their shrine : Clisson, where takes place one of the main metal events of the year in Europe : Hellfest. The festival has welcomed the biggest names in extreme music over the last ten years, and this year’s lineup won’t stop them getting bigger and bigger.

Through those three days, we’ve seen headliners such as Rob Zombie, Aerosmith, Rancid, Linkin Park, Prophets of Rage, and, what’s one of this festival’s strengths, more confidential ones, which makes this -more than 160 bands- bill one of the strongest that you’ll see this summer.

Hellfest as seen by artists: Subrosa, Ultra Vomit, and more discuss 2017’s lineup

In a week Hellfest (France) will open its gates, with an impressive lineup (Aerosmith, Linkin Park, Deep Purple, Five Finger Death Punch, Prophets Of Rage, …). We wanted to know which bands the artists present at the festival want to see there, and why!

Subrosa (Ancient Magickal Doom) – Rebecca Vernon (vocals, guitar) :

Well, there are many bands I want to see, but it’s more a question of, which bands will I be ABLE to see? Haha. We will be busy on Friday before we play, with merch, load-in and soundcheck, and we have to leave Hellfest right after we play at 3 p.m. to drive to Belgium. However, Noothgrush is playing right before us on the Valley Stage and we will hopefully get to see them. I just saw them live at Maryland Death Fest for the first time and loved them and look forward to seeing them again.
If I could see any of the other two Friday bands, though, I’d love to see The Damned and Marduk – Marduk I love live, and Magnus “Devo” Andersson, their bassist, mixed and mastered three of our albums, so I like to support them in return.
