Vocalist Gerard Way, formerly of My Chemical Romance and also an acclaimed solo artist (among other things), has released a cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s classic “Hazy Shade Of Winter”. The cover song was performed specifically for The Umbrella Academy, the series that Way and Gabriel Ba co-created. Even better for My Chemical Romance fans? Ex-bandmate Ray Toro is on the track, too!
The cover of the Simon & Garfunkel classic was also used in the trailer for The Umbrella Academy, which you can view below. The highly-anticipated series drops on Netflix the day after Valentine’s Day, February 15th.
After releasing a Halloween-themed single a few short weeks ago, Gerard Way has released another new single in relatively quick succession. The new track, “Getting Down The Germs”, surfaced overnight – and it’s the 2nd new track he’s released since 2015. While there’s no news about a new EP or album, any new music from the former My Chemical Romance vocalist and The Umbrella Academy creator is always good news. Check out the new song below.
The new music from Gerard Way is his first since 2014 solo effort Hesitant Alien, which is still a fantastic record if you’ve not yet listened to it. A departure from My Chemical Romance in all the right ways, really.
After releasing a teaser earlier this week, Gerard Way has unveiled a spooky, Halloween-themed new song, “Baby You’re A Haunted House”. The new song is his first batch of new solo material in 2 years, and while it’s unclear if a new EP or even full-length is forthcoming, the new song is a treat for fans of his solo work, and anyone who’s been following his efforts since My Chemical Romance broke up. Check out the video below.
Of particular note is the fact that Netflix is adapting his comic book series, The Umbrella Academy, for adaptation. Definitely a cool thing to see his ambitions unfold. In regards to new music, Way’s new song is his first in 2 years.
Since My Chemical Romance broke up, vocalist Gerard Way impressively managed to deliver a solo record in 2014’s Hesitant Alien that blew critics away with its Britpop influences, and also released a few new songs on top of that in 2016 (“Pinkish” and “Don’t Try”). It’s been over 4 years since his debut solo record dropped, and it looks like new fans are going to get a likely spooky surprise on October 26th, as he’s releasing a new single, “Baby You’re A Haunted House” on October 26th. Check out the teaser below, and if you haven’t yet given Hesitant Alien a shot yet, you should – it’s worth revisiting.
