Progressive metal juggernauts Tool have once again reached a big millstone. The band is celebrating their third consecutive #1 debut on Billboard’s Top 200, with Fear Inoculum (RCA Records) reigning over the U.S. sales charts, selling 270,000 units.
At long last, the wait for Tool fans – and progressive rock/metal fans everywhere – is over. Tool’s long-awaited new album Fear Inoculum, the band’s first since 2006’s 10,000 Days, is now available to listen to. Are you excited? You probably should be! The long-awaited new record certainly stands up to their previous material, and it would be a strong surprise if Tool didn’t just release one of the most successful rock albums of 2019.
This is not a drill. One could be forgiven for thinking the band might yet be trolling fans with new music, only to pull the curtain out from under them, but it’s official – Tool have released “Fear Inoculum”, their first official single in 13 years. A song that sits at an impressive 10 minutes long, it immediately brings to mind their Lateralus and 10,000 Days albums more than the alternative metal of their earlier work. Either way, it’s damned impressive and pretty engaging, too.
