Bridge 9 Records midwestern hardcore group Expire just released a new track off their 2nd full-length album entitled “Pretty Low”. The album was recorded with Defeater’s Jay Maas at Getaway Studios. Expect “Pretty Low” to be released early summer. Check out the first single, which happens to be the title track, below.
I recently caught up with Josh Kelting from Expire before their set at Epic Problem, we talked about their upcoming album, and some of his favorite music releases from this year. Expire are currently on tour with Fire & Ice, Take Offense and Bent Life, so be sure to check out their tour dates. Expire are also around halfway done with preparation for the upcoming album entitled “Pretty Low”, so be on the lookout for any updates from the band.
Defeater is a five-piece melodic hardcore group from Massachusetts, and Letters Home is their third full length LP. In the past, they’ve made a pretty big name for themselves for fans of a number of different genres and styles, largely due to vocalist Derek Archambault’s emotional outpouring and his band’s instrumental poetry reminiscent of groups like Modern Life is War, Shai Hulud, Touche Amore, and Have Heart. This record follows in this pattern for the most part, but for a large portion of it, the instrumentals fall flat and pale in comparison to the level of heart and passion put into Archambault’s lyrics.
