On September 11th, 2001, P.O.D.’s Satellite was released. The release day was supposed to be the band’s coming out party, and indeed it was considering the success of the record – often considered the band’s best. That hope, however, was balanced out by the devastating 9/11 attacks that stopped an entire nation in its tracks. While it took the shell-shocked country much time to come to their senses, Satellite was a sort of perfect storm album that is both a time capsule musically, and lyrically as well.
A band’s debut single, especially in 2019, is a tricky proposition in any genre of music. You’re essentially competing against leagues of other musicians for time and attention, among other things. Luckily, UK newcomers Static Dress have come out of the gate swinging on their debut single, “Clean.”, one that’s already being hyped up quite a bit via social media – and just plain being interesting music. In our expert opinion, their nostalgic sound belies a fresh and modern touch that you need to hear – and fast.
After teasing it over the weekend and having rumors surrounding it fly on social media the last 72 hours, it’s now official – Green Day, Fall Out Boy, and Weezer have announced what’s being dubbed as the ‘Hella Mega’ tour. The news also arrives with the likelihood that Green Day will be supporting their as-of-yet untitled 13th studio album, as well.
