Metal supergroup FIRSTBORNE is back with angry protest anthem “Cut The Strings”

For the uninitiated amongst you; we’re going to take a moment to talk about the absolutely batshit crazy lineup that comprises Firstborne (we don’t use “supergroup” lightly around these parts, especially in headlines). Superstar drummer Chris Adler (Lamb of God, Megadeth) joins forces with singular bassist James LoMenzo (Black Label Society, Megadeth), riff master Myrone (whose signature “soft shred” style is anything but soft) and unmistakable vocal titan Girish Pradhan (GATC) to create an outfit that is capable of playing pretty much any type of music…and whose approach to a classic heavy metal  / thrash style is full of an old school “kill ’em all!” sentiment, while remaining firmly rooted in discussing social issues and being a voice for advocacy and positive change.

Their latest single “Cut The Strings” is a follow up to their acclaimed self-titled EP (released earlier this year) and captures all of the intensity and aggression you’d expect from the group while exploring themes of political awareness and protest against the powers that be. An abrasive series of riffs and a pythonic guitar solo (we miss those) from Myrone mesh perfectly with Pradhan’s high flying vocal performance; and with guys like Adler and LoMenzo in the rhythm section you can bet the song barrels ahead at breakneck speeds.

“Every time there’s a force that challenges the most fundamental right of a human being – Freedom – music has always served as the voice of the common person. The special existence of humans in the world has music right in the heart of it.” Girish Pradhan.
