While we know that the band is readying an acoustic album due out very soon, Breaking Benjamin vocalist Ben Burnley is ending his 2019 on a high note as he just completed filming the music video for an acoustic version of “Dear Agony” – with none other than Cold’s Scooter Ward and ex-Flyleaf vocalist Lacey Sturm. But wait, there’s (a lot) more!
After confirming that the trio recently wrapped up filming for the music video, Lacey Sturm one-upped the big news by also revealing to CCM Magazine the existence of a future Lacey Sturm // Benjamin Burnley project together:
“There’s been talk about starting a band with the singer from BREAKING BENJAMIN, Ben Burnley,” Continuing to tease fans about their forthcoming collaboration on Breaking Benjamin’s acoustic album saying, “he talked with me about singing on his acoustic album, which just came out [It is not yet out, no release date has been confirmed] — singing on ‘Dear Agony’, which I think is one of their best songs…. when I listened to the lyrics, I just was like, ‘This is Jesus in the Garden,’ and I just started crying. That’s how I knew I should do it. When I was in the studio with Ben, I was like, ‘Let me tell you about your song.’ He goes, ‘Are you going to preach to me?’ I’m like, ‘Do you want me to preach to you?’ He’s, like, ‘Yeah.’ I’m like, ‘No, I’m not going to preach to you. You preached to me. Let me show you the lyrics in your song,’ and I went through the lyrics and showed him what it said to me. He goes, ‘How’d you turn my rock song into a Jesus song?’”

One of the funnest video shoots I’ve ever done! Can’t wait to see it finished. So cool to see #scooterward lead singer of @coldmusic -one of the first bands I ever toured with in @flyleafmusic … ( #adifferentkindofpain is still one of the best albums out there..) and getting to perform #DearAgony with @benjaminburnleybb and @breakingbenjamin in the video was surreal.. everyone was so cool and I had a blast.
Of course, there’s no timetable for the project’s fruition or anything like that – or the upcoming acoustic album in question, either. However, this is surely exciting for fans of both bands, and the trio (including Scooter Ward)’s “Dear Agony” acoustic song? 100% exciting. Notably, Sturm posted the news (via Loudwire) on her Instagram recently, so if you put two and two together, well…
