I had the opportunity to sit down with North Carolina band “This Fallen Empire” they are making moves in the local scene and they are definitely a band that shouldn’t be overlooked.

(NC= Nick Carte    TFE= This Fallen Empire)

NC: Just like to thank you guys for giving me the time for this interview from what you’ve told me you guys are pretty busy these days.
NC: Being a band from North Carolina what do you think about the music scene here?

TFE: The scene has definitely had a lot of bands come and go but lately the bands that we have been playing shows with and just hearing about in general are incredible! It feels great to be a part of the NC music scene, being surrounded by bands full of great people who seem to genuinely care is such an awesome feeling! We are very excited for our scene!

NC: If you had to pick 4 local bands to tour with who would they be?

TFE: This is a bit of a tough question because there are so many amazing bands and great friends we have all met through playing but we would have to say that a tour we would love to have would be Jynzo, Lanterns, Haymaker, and Elizabeth Crim.

NC: Listening to the songs you guys have put out I feel a Like Moths to Flames vibe, was this purposely or just coincidence?

TFE: In all honesty, that is awesome you hear some Like Moths To Flames influence in our music, we jam so many bands and we love those dudes! I guess during the recordings of this first album there was nothing but anger and bad vibes going on at certain times of the tracking process and I guess coincidentally it just kinda turned out really pissed off sounding.

NC: What kinda stuff do you guys listen to that’s outside of your bands genre?

TFE: We all listen to so many different types of music outside of our genre, it varies from stuff like Linkin Park, Korn, City In Colour, Circa Survive, Animals As Leaders, Marilyn Manson, Trapped Under Ice, Bayside, Pianos Became The Teeth, Dance Gavin Dance, etc… We honestly listen to just about every type of music.

NC: So Gregory, favorite singer of all time?

TFE: This is probably the most difficult question for me, there are so many different singers out there that are so good, it’s so hard to pick just one but if I had to say, I’d say my favorite singer is Corey Taylor.

NC: So I understand touring can get kinda crazy at points, has anything crazy happened to you guys on your adventures from show to show?

TFE: We have had some pretty funny and crazy moments, we got snowed in at Kevin’s studio, our guitar player Ian fell on stage, there are a lot of things that have happened and we have actually not toured yet but are in the process of getting things ready so we will be able to soon!

NC: So I understand you have a new album coming out, can you give us any details about this?

TFE: Yes, we recorded with our good friend Kevin Newland at Newland Recordings and it was a great experience! There was a lot of stuff that took place during the recording process that put things on hold for us for a while, but we toughed it out and kept moving forward with everything.

Recording with Kevin is the best! He brings the music to life and really wants to get you to perform at your absolute best, we learned so much from him and the entire experience and have grown as a band tremendously! This first album is something we are very proud of and we are anxious to get everything finally released!

NC: Alright final question, if you only had one sentence to convince a potential fan to check out your band what would you say.

TFE: We put our all into this and there will never be a time where we don’t.

NC: Once again I’d like to thank the band for giving me some time out of their busy schedule.

Their new song “Reasons” will be on the “Compositions of the Carolinas” compilation album.
