Released on April 27th, Scottish post-rock band Midas Fall don’t quite fit neatly into that genre descriptor – or any other ones, really. You might call the two-piece band influenced by ambient, electronic, and even gothic music. While that’s true, placing them squarely in one of those categories is difficult. The band’s 4th album, Evaporate, is 10 tracks of emotive and cinematic bliss. It’s a true journey that proves more dynamic and diverse than many bands of the genre, and there’s a little something for everyone. The best part is that the relatively short runtime helps keep things fresh.
We can’t recommend this album enough. If you like Anathema’s recent material, 65daysofstatic, and/or the ambient, post-rock leaning washes of Hammock, you will love this record. Evaporate is sure to be some of the most dynamic music you’ll hear all year.
