Breathe Carolina return to their roots (sort of) on catchy new single, “Too Good”

Remember Breathe Carolina? Of course you do. They’re one of the few bands of the Myspace era who can legitimately say they’ve achieved even more success since then, as their subtle shift towards EDM/electropop became complete with 2014’s full-length Savages, and their 2016 EP Sleepless as well. Notably, the band has dropped just about all semblances of their post-hardcore/electronicore past, but on their new song “Too Good”, the band blends their older electropop style with their more modern EDM influences to create what ends up being a very catchy song.

The vocals, courtesy of David Schmitt, really give the band’s past a positive nod. I mean, Breathe Carolina said it themselves on social media…

“Our new album is LITERALLY 2009-2012 emo meets 2019 production / house music. It is…it is fucking glorious.”

Realistically, though, it’s very similar to their newer material, especially Sleepless. That doesn’t mean the song doesn’t fulfill its goals of smartly integrating their hook-filled electropop into their new style, though. The new song arrives as the first single off their first album in 5 years, Deadthealbum, and notably, every song on the album will feature David Schmitt’s vocals – unlike their newer stuff, which focuses more on remixes and less singing.
