Deftones raise over $100k for the UC Davis Children’s Hospital

While their critically acclaimed new album Ohms is out now and has been for a week, alt-metal legends Deftones have given back to both the crew that helps them on the road, and essential pediatric services. The band is currently running an “Adopt A Dot” promotion, where fans can become one of the 12,995 dots that adorn the Ohms album cover. The proceeds from each dot benefit both Crew Nation and the UC Davis Children’s Hospital (which is the Central Valley’s only level I pediatric trauma center), and it seems the campaign has raised quite a bit of money.

INTERVIEW: Hurtwave’s Rory Rodriguez on sitting on songs, differences from Dayseeker

As a big Dayseeker fan, I was pleased to discover that vocalist Rory Rodriguez and drummer Mike Karle had a synthwave side project in Hurtwave. Their debut single “Sever” has been crammed in my head since its release in June, and the group have followed up with another hit, “Bleach.” Hurtwave plans to release their EP Night Therapy I in seven installments through label Spinefarm, with emphasis placed on each single. TNF Premiere + Q&A: Frontside debut new song + video for “Give It Up”

Frontside aren’t your typical pop-punk band. While the North Carolina band do have the energy you’d expect out of the genre, their influences are more widely varied than you’d think – citing more technical bands like The Fall Of Troy and Damiera as key references to their sound. In other words, don’t expect the same three chords you might be used to (not that there’s anything wrong with that).

We’re stoked to team up with the band for the release of their new song + video for “Give It Up”. Frontside, who also teamed up with Revival Recordings for the release of their upcoming EP (due out early next year), are fast making waves in the music scene – and we also sat down with guitarist/vocalist Walter Stanley for a Q&A session as well.
