Earlier this year, critically adored metalcore band Underoath launched a weekly series on their Twitch channel. During the episodes, the band streams an album from its catalog in full and goes into detail about the writing and recording processes. This week’s live episode kicks off at 8pm ET on Tuesday, June 30th, and will boast an in-depth discussion of 2004’s landmark They’re Only Chasing Safety. This album was a monumental milestone in the band’s honored and infuential career. It’s the album that introduced me to them and sparked my love for Underoath, and we’re sure that’s the case for many others as well.
I’m always happy to give some coverage to a hometown hero band, and today, I get to do just that. Erabella, a post-hardcore band from Algonquin, Illinois, are gearing up to release their second EP, The Familiar Grey. This young, hungry group brings bellowing vocals atop focused instrumentals, echoing genre greats like Being as an Ocean. Let’s take a look at Erabella’s sophomore effort:

Phil is known for his incredible highs, which he delivered with flair in the band’s underrated album How Fleeting, How Fragile. Nick Mason AKA The Living Dead Drummer is a true professional when it comes to his craft of percussion. He has performed on more albums than he can remember, numerous singles and several movie soundtracks, he has also appeared in many music videos, orchestrated drum clinics and co-hosted an international music TV show. Nick is also currently the Sr. Drum Instructor and Show Director for School Of Rock. Get to know him a little better below.
